Cricket NFT platform Rario raises $120M in a Series A round led by Dream Capital
Singapore-based NFT cricket ground Rario has raised $ 120 million (approximately Rs 914 crore) in a Series A sponsorship round led by Dream Capital, Corporate Venture Capital, and the M&A arm for Dream Sports.
According to a company statement, Rario currently leads NFT cricket rights worldwide through a special partnership with six international cricket players and a list of 900+ cricket players. With Dream Capital investment, Rario now has access to Dream Sports’ 140 Million users, who will be offered only FIAT products in India, with the potential to create the largest NFT cricket ground in the world, he said.
Founded in 2021 by IIT Delhi alumni Ankit Wadhwa and Sunny Bhanot, Rario says he has just signed one of the biggest NFT cricket agreements in the world; a special multi-year partnership with Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers ’Association to establish an Australian cricket and collection team.
Rario enables fans to engage as a community, giving them the opportunity to own a piece of cricket history with digital collections on all player cards, video times, and cricket art objects. With Rario, Indian sports fans can buy, sell, and trade through NFT through FIAT-only mediums – credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers.
Since 2021, Rario has sold more than 50,000 NFTs to sports fans in 20 countries, and the USA, UK, Australia, and India as its top 4 markets, he adds.
Commenting on the development, Ankit Wadhwa, Founder, and CEO, Rario said, “Cricket is the second largest sport in the world with over 1.5bn fans worldwide. NFTs are creating new collaborative approaches that allow fans to own and trade digital collections. Rario’s ecosystem of NFT international cricket will also be boosted by 140M sports fans at Dream Sports. ”
Commenting on the investment, Dev Bajaj, Chief Strategy Officer, Dream Sports, said, “DreamCap is excited to work with Rario to help sports fans engage more deeply with their favorite players and teams.
