Govt kicks off innovation challenge to boost made in India apps 2020
Days after China banned 59 apps in relation to privacy concerns, the Indian government has bid for the “Digital India Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Innovate Challenge” to promote the homegrown app ecosystem. The innovation challenge will help identify the “best” Indian app in business, including eight categories (home to office productivity and work, social networking, e-learning, entertainment, health and wellness, agritech and fintech, news, and games) Are available for use and are scaled to “world-class” standards.
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Digital India Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Innovate Challenge will be conducted in two phases, screening and evaluation (with actual demo).
The challenge is open to all Indian entrepreneurs and start-ups, and those who have until July 18 to apply. The entire process will be conducted online through the MyGov portal (innovate.mygov.in). An unspecified jury with experts from the private sector and education will evaluate presentations and shortlist apps based on four criteria, ease of use, robustness, security features, and scalability.
Shortlisted apps will be honored and placed on the leaderboard. “Appropriate” apps will be further adopted by the government and directed to maturity. The final announcement will be made on 7 August.
Winners not only give their apps a chance to get visibility and direction, but they will also be eligible for cash prizes of Rs 20 lakh, Rs 15 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively in the eight app categories. Jury members can decide to create sub-categories in each category, in which case the winners will get a chance to win a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively. ).
